Research Experiences for Undergraduates
What is an REU?
Research Experiences for Undergraduates or REUs consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in specific research programs at various national and international host institutions. 星空无限传媒app School of Mines provides a wide array of REU programs on a yearly basis. REUs generally take place over the summer months and invite students to participate in original research with mentors that specialize in their respective fields. Many of these programs vary in focus and are conducted in coordination with other universities and established research organizations, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF). current reu programs
The opportunities and challenges presented by data in materials sciences has expanded rapidly in recent decades. ICECRM focuses on accelerating the development of new materials by harnessing the power of data and experiment. This REU is designed as an 11-week program where students will tackle an interdisciplinary problem in materials informatics.
Past REU programs
BOTS is an REU, Research Experience for Undergraduate, that awards transfer students an hourly wage to conduct research at Mines. BOTS takes place over the summer months between community college and Mines. This program exposes transfer students to the cutting-edge research taking place at 星空无限传媒app School of Mines while also helping create a network of peers and faculty currently engaged in research.
The 星空无限传媒app School of Mines offers a unique interdisciplinary research experience for undergraduates that applies polymer science and polymer engineering practices to 21st century technologies such as fuel cell membranes, solar cells, coatings, and health care. Participants will have the opportunity to work with faculty mentors from the departments of Chemistry, Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Materials Science.
ReNUWIt鈥檚 REU program engages undergraduate students in ReNUWIt faculty鈥檚 research labs, under the mentorship of ReNUWIt post-docs and graduate students. Participants learn laboratory/field techniques, are immersed in a collaborative and interdisciplinary culture, and conduct meaningful research in state-of-the-art facilities.
REU Poster Sessions
All undergraduate student researchers that participated in the Underground Infrastructure REU and the Materials REU in Summer 2021 were welcome to present at the Summer 2021 Undergraduate Research Poster Session. The Summer 2021 URPS took place virtually Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021. Click the image above to learn more and view the featured projects.
